Registration is now open for the Fall WEA-Retired Pre-retirement Seminars.
No matter where you are in your career, it is never too early to plan for retirement. During the seminar, we cover a variety of topics, including:
•State retirement plans
•Social Security
•Heath care
•Financial planning
•Estate planning
WEA-Retired members Karla Kragelund and Sandy Kokko are the seminar presenters along with guest speakers. Some people find it helpful to have an estimate of their benefits from the Department of Retirement Systems. You can get this information from the DRS website. Click on the “Retirees” menu option at the top of the page, then select “Calculators” from under the Resources section. Another document some people find useful is an estimate of their Social Security benefits. You can find this by going to the Social Security website, follow the directions on the site to get your estimated benefits.
In response to last spring’s high demand and request to include spouses, we have scheduled two fall seminars, one Oct. 24 and 25 and one Nov. 14 and 15, both will be for members and spouses to attend. Enrollment can only be confirmed with paid registration. We always keep a waitlist and, should there be openings, we will contact members to fill any open spots.
Everyone will receive notification whether they have a place in the seminar or whether they are on the waitlist. If you are one of the 24 participants and then find that you cannot attend, please contact Teresa at the WEA-Riverside Office, at (360) 256-0880, as soon as possible so someone else can attend in your place.
The seminars will be held at Bates Center on Falk Road. Space is limited to 24 participants for each seminar and will be filled on a first-paid basis. The registration fee covers the cost of all materials, continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and snacks.
If you have registration questions, please contact Teresa at the WEA-Riverside Office at (360) 256-0880. If you have content questions, contact Karla at (360) 254-3742 or Sandy at (360) 892-1959.
