The Evergreen Education Association Diversity Cadre is excited to share this year’s conference.

Culturally Competent Educators

March 12, 2016
9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Union High School
6201 NW Friberg-Strunk Street
Camas, WA 98607

Erin Jones, 2013 White House “Champion of Change,” 2009-12 assistant superintendent of public instruction, and 2008 Milken Educator of the Year, will deliver our keynote address, “Teaching as if Every Child is Gifted and Talented.”

“The keynote presentation will help educators recapture their reasons for being in the classrooms. I hope to also inspire every educator to be able to see giftedness and talent in a new way and to develop a growth mindset about their own practice as educators but also a growth mindset about the potential of their students. Educators will be inspired and challenged and will also walk away with tools to use in classrooms immediately.”

The conference will provide specific tracks designed to enlighten as well as provide practical applications you can take back to your classroom. Break-out session content areas include: more in-depth discussions with Erin Jones, Restorative Justice, Engaging At-Risk Students, Cultural Competency and Social Justice.

The event is FREE to EEA members (with a good faith deposit), $75 to WEA members, and $175 to other participants (principals, classified staff, student teachers, etc). Six clock hours will be available and lunch will be provided.

Registration forms will be coming soon, but remember to put it on your calendar to “SAVE the DATE.” Registration will be limited to 120 participants!
