No matter where you are in your career, it is never too early to plan for retirement. Our WEA-Retired group hosts a pre-retirement seminar that you can’t afford to miss if you are starting to plan for retirement.

At our pre-retirement seminar, we cover a variety of topics, including:

• State retirement plans
• Social Security
• Heath care
• Financial planning
• Estate planning

WEA-Retired members Karla Kragelund and Sandy Kokko are the seminar presenters along with guest speakers. Some people find it helpful to have an estimate of their benefits from the Department of Retirement Systems. You can get this information from the DRS website. Click on the “Nearing Retirement” icon on the right-hand side of the page, then select “Benefit Estimators.” You will need to create an online account to access your information. Another document some people find useful is an estimate of their Social Security benefits. You can find this by going to the Social Security website. Follow the directions there.

Our upcoming WEA-Retired Pre-Retirement Session will be held at The Bates Center (formerly the CEL), 2901 Falk Rd, Vancouver WA.

Space is limited to the first 24 paid participants. The registration fee covers the cost of all materials, continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and snacks. Please send your registration fee to the WEA-Riverside Office, 5516 NE 107th Ave, Suite 200, Vancouver, WA 98662.

Everyone will receive an email notification confirming their spot(s) for the seminar or if they have been put on the waitlist (registration is only confirmed by receipt of your payment for the registration fees). If you are one of the 24 participants and then find that you cannot attend, please contact the WEA-Riverside Office by phone at 360.256.0880 or email us as soon as possible so someone else can take your place at the seminar.
